Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera

The market showdowns currently underway between digital point & shoot, compact and pocket cameras (whatever these things are properly called) has forced manufacturers to pack a lot of features into a very small space, for not much money. Best of all, the photos look great.

Nikon Coolpix L12 Point & Shoot Digital Camera

Inexpensive doesn't have to mean poor quality or featureless. An inexpensive camera can be quite satisfying if it has been smartly designed and well presented. Nikon continues to offer a wide range of competent P&S cameras to suit a wide range of needs.

Windows Vista—The Missing Manual

Author David Pogue is well known for his Missing Manual series. The devil is in the details for most authors however, and Pogue's writing continues to elevate these titles above their competitors. In any case, Windows Vista needs all the help it can get. You need a good book.

Resco Explorer 2007 for Palm OS, Pocket PC & Smartphone

The useless, incipient file managers in the Palm and Windows Mobile operating systems are a complete waste of the meager system memory supplied with most handheld devices. What has been needed for the longest time is a file manager worthy of the name.

RoboForm Pro v6.9.2

I'm tired of filling out forms online while shopping, registering, applying for something, doing a survey or any of the other things that require online forms. I also can't remember all of my logins and passwords. I want something that can do all this for me automatically, securely and accurately.

Cyberhawk

Zero Day threats — the ones which hit your PC before any of the antivirus and antispyware makers have a chance to do an update — are a monster lurking in the closet. Diligence in the form of deleting unknown or unsolicited file attachments is the #1 defense against a lot of things, but a smart utility couldn't hurt.

Zoho Writer Online Wordprocessor

Web applications, good and bad, are popping up all over the place. Most of them are free (for now). We tried Zoho Office to find out if a busy household or even a small business could actually move document creation and storage online. The review was rigorous and the results may surprise you.

Cyberlink DVD Suite Pro 5

I have a lot of digital video footage. There is no hope of ever reviewing it all. But I can try. What I need is a program comprehensive enough to make something of the huge pile with relatively little pain and aggravation, while preferably adding some creative help which makes my efforts look good.

The Microsoft Office Project 2007 Survival Guide

I have observed and lamented the valiant but ultimately fruitless struggles of many project managers doing battle with Microsoft Project. The software is difficult to use, the design paradigm obscure. Without a concise course book on the software, new users often have a terrible time with it.

Interactive Bar Opens In London

Twentyfour, is one of the most technologically-advanced bars in the world. It also happens to be located, here in London, England. 24, the Bar and not the TV series, looks like something inspired by the matrix, will be kitted out with interactive displays and projection walls that can transform images and video onto a wall at the click of a switch. There are purportedly hundreds of LED lights installed that will give the venue over 1,000 different color combinations. The cool part is that the interactive projections will react to your presence and movements when you attempt to touch them. I imagine that you can probably get the bartenders attention with just the touch of your hand ... I’m going to check it out sometime and get back to you with my impressions.

It seems that some manufacturers have been paying attention to the green movement with a very timely announcement from Lenovo which details a Solar Power compliant PC which comes with a based configuration featuring a 2GHz Sempron processor, 512MB RAM, 80GB hard drive and a read-only DVD drive. The A61e should retail for $399 this base specification. All configurations use AMD's 690G chipset and offer ATI X1200 graphics. Details will be forthcoming on how the solar power will be supplied, but I'm expecting to hear a lot more in the weeks to come. Recent announcements from HP and several other manufacturers are echoing the thinking behind this unit from Lenovo.

iPod Nano & iPod Classic Unveiled

After unveiling the new iPod Touch, and feeling a little disappointed with Apples efforts, I was pleased to see the Ipod classic and the New Video Playing iPod Nano. The classic is just like the 5G units but in capacities of 80GB and 160GB, whereas the Nano is available in 4GB and 8GB sizes. I for one, like the ipod Nano and can see sense in this PMP. The 8GB & 16GB iPod Touch offering fall short of true excellence due to its relatively small storage capacities ... go on Apple give us more storage on the iPod Touch.

Photoshop Express Shown At Photoshop World

Photoshop Express was shown by Adobe Senior Vice President, John Loicono to crowds of onlookers at Photoshop World. Photoshop Express isn't meant to replace any of the existing products, but is instead designed to be a web based application similar to Premiere Express, which was released earlier this year. The application follows some of the same UI principles shown in Lightroom and other RAW apps but is far simpler in its use. Allowing users a pick and use type of approach for edits and enhancements. John Nack mentions it on his blog, and even provides a screenshot of the app in action.
