Intel Release Shots Of Ultra Thin Metro Laptop



Intel have released photos of their new 0.7" thick, 2.2 pound (1kg) Metro Laptop featuring an external e-ink display. It will give many a technophile the flutters if the unit is ever produced. The mock-ups of this proposed unit are worth a look. Visit this page at business week for several images.

Apple To Use Enhanced Theft Protection On iPhone

Reports from several sources are that Apple are planning a sudden motion based theft protection system on their New iPhone. the system will purportedly work by allowing the owner to use the motion detection systems built into the item to detect sudden motion such as when devices are snatched. The device will lock itself when this type of motion is detected and will require a security password to unlock it...

Dell Ultrathin Display Concept To Be Released...


Last January, Dell showed a display concept featuring untra thin components in what appeared to be a clear glass shell. Engadget and many of the other tech blogs treated us to images of this cool looking display. This new display will purportedly sport the newly approved DisplayPort 1.1 interface, offering up to 4 times the resolution of current HDTV displays.

Motorola Announce New Q & ROKR

After announcing the new Razr yesterday, The Big M didn't end the new product unveilings with just the one model. Motorola also unveiled new versions of the Q and the ROKR.

The Q9 comes with a 2MP camera, capable of capturing and playing back video at 15fps, support for MP3 audio files, Bluetooth, 256MB of onboard memory and a microSD expansion slot. Curiously However WiFi is absent.

The Z8 can playback video at up to 30fps, HSDPA 3.6Mbps connectivity, A range of pre-installed third party applications including Sky's Anytime with its online library of news, entertainment and sports and one click access to Flickr, MySpace and YouTube. A QVGA screen, onboard memory of 80MB and microSD card support. I Can't wait to see the full specs...

Google Intros New Search Capabilities

Google today announced a slew of new features that go beyond their long standing search capabilities. Universal Search is a feature which combines several types of search results and something which bridges their video, images and other search indexes. There is also a new contextual search, access to experimental search features as well as a cross-language search platform, which will bridge search results across different languages.

Cheap Pioneer Blu-ray Drive

Pioneer have announced the release of a $299 Blu-ray/DVD drive for PCs in the US. The BDC-2202 will ship in June, and allows the playback of Blu-ray movies and also the burning of DVDs and CDs. The drive can read BD-ROM/BD-R/BD-RE at up to 5x and can read BD-ROM (DL) and BD-R/-RE (DL) at up to 2X speed. No Blu-ray write, capability, but at that price, I didn't expect it would.

Microsoft To Issue Seven Security Patches

According to Information Week, Microsoft are slated to release Seven patches next week, Three security bulletins are related to Office, two for Windows. Exchange is affected by one, as is Microsoft BizTalk business process management server and Capicom, a Microsoft ActiveX control.

Microsoft said that next thursday they will also provide an update to their Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. The company is additionally planning to release one high-priority non-security update on Windows Update as well as six high-priority non-security updates through Microsoft Update.

Fujitsu To Release UMPC With Twisty Screen

laptoping.com have posted an article showing a picture of the new UMPC from Fujitsu showing a tablet pc convertible like look, which features a twisty screen, Intel's Stealey processor, 1GB of memory, and a 40GB drive.
