Intel Creates Teraflop Chip

Intel has developed a proof of concept teraflop chip that demonstrates supercomputer-like performance. There are no plans to bring the 80-core chip to market in the near future however the figures appear to be quite impressive... According to Silicon.com the super-chip - which is around the size of a fingernail - is able to deliver trillions of calculations per second and move terabytes of data while consuming only 62 watts of electricity. These figures show substantial improvements over single-core processors.
