"Short Throw" Projection Technology
The latest buzz in Projection tech is a concept called short throw which uses optics and geometry to render projected imagery over fairly short distances. The ideal being a device which can be wall or floor mounted, but which casts or throws an image from itself to the surface upon which it is mounted.
The technology is hoped to be able to achieve the capability of being able to produce 60 inch images from as short a distance as three inches. Funny enough Sanyo made a breakthrough in this area, having managed to produce a projector which can create a 60 incn image from this exact distance.
The tech isn't as yet capable of producung 1080p images but the 720p image produced by the device from Sanyo is quite bright at 2000 lumens. For more info read this article at Trusted Reviews
