Gravia - The Gravity Lamp
An article over at Dvice has showcased a design by a Virginia tech student who has figured out a way to harness the power of gravity. The Gravia is an LED based lamp that works by the force of a weight. The lamp is about four feet tall, encased in glass and gives off about 40w. The energy-efficient weight system that powers the 10 built-in LEDs has won a Greener Gadget award. Apparently the innovative lamp can be used for 200 years, even at 8 hours per day. I'd love to find out more about this cool innovation.
