WinFax Pro Alternatives

  • MightFax works well, albeit without the massive feature set of WinFax. All of the features in MightFax work reliably however, which is the point of recommending it;
  • Biscom offers a range of useful fax server and fax software packages that work well and which are very robust;
  • SnappyFax (which I like a lot) is another good choice.

There are more software fax products out there which we haven't tried yet. A simple Yahoo! or Google search for "PC fax software" or "Mac fax software" or "Linux fax software" will get you started. There are a surprising number of competing products available.

PC Diagnostic Toolkits

  • Ultra-X has a couple of decent tools. The P.H.D. PCI2 is a good kit;
  • Toolhouse USA has its ToolStar package, although it's not as highly regarded at the Micro2000 UDTK or the P.H.D. PCI2 kits.

There are some other kits out there along with quite a few that bundle the Micro2000 stuff (and others) under different brand names. Do an online search for "PC diagnostic tools" and you'll get lots of good hits. I've used the Micro 2000, the P.H.D and the ToolStar products, all of which work reliably and well. I don't know anything about the other kits out there. My personal preferences are the Micro2000 and the P.H.D. products.

Problems with Online Subscription Renewals

It's a long slow road to success sometimes, but it doesn't have to be that way. By far the largest number of complaints about online subscription renewals come to Kickstartnews because of Symantec's Norton Antivirus. It has been a horror show for some people. Symantec helpfully puts on its web sites all of the contact phone numbers for each and every country in which the company has an office. Dig! Stop looking for this kind of contact information only in the navigation bar at the top of web pages—look in the page footers and sidebars for "Contact Us" links and look for Symantec's telephone number in your local telephone book or online telephone listings. Call and complain! Quite often, subscription renewal problems can be resolved on the spot with a single, free phone call.
