SONY Copy Protection Causing Grief Yet Again.
It appears that Sony have done it yet again, Several of their new titles are not playing on certain DVD players and computer systems due to a copy protection system called ARccOS. According to Engadget, ARccOS artificially scrambles sectors on the disc in an attempt to keep users from ripping the disc to a drive. Older and less sophisticated players simply skip these corrupted areas as unreadable and continue on. Computers and a number of newer players try to correct the problem and subsequently fail.
I have a policy. Any product which doesn't work on my players gets returned. Sony can take a long run off a short pier as far as I'm concerned, as can any other manufacturer that doesn't think about the people finacing their existence. Service your clients or fade into obscurity — it's your challenge to meet. For more info read Engadget and Slashdot.
