Google Launch Chrome Open Beta

Google have released an open Beta of their new webrowser Chrome, and from all appearances it's fast and has some cool features. The browser opens really fast and each new window opens a new instance of Chrome. The Tab page displays your most-visited websites, recently-visited bookmarks, and recently-closed tabs.

The browser allows you to instantly kill any Flash element using the task manager and all without closing the page. You can drag tabs in and out of windows and even combine windows. The browser has one drawback in that it does need some finessing visually it is currently more than a little bland. To download it visit http://www.google.com/chrome.

Apple Patches Safari 3 Beta

Apple released its second security patch for the Beta of Safari 3 browser. The patch for Safari 3.0.2 for Windows fixes security holes in the previous version, improves text display, and improves upon launch times.

The update also fixes a security vulnerability by which an attacker could spoof a website in the browser's address bar, tricking users into thinking they were at a valid site instead of a fake one, possibly conning them into revealing confidential information and passwords.

The Mac update for Safari improves support for Mail, iChat, and Dashboard, and fixes problems with parental controls and Google Reader.
