Asus Planning Dual Core Touchscreen Eee PCs

Asus have been making a big impact with their Eee PC line of Netbook based laptops. The company is promising that it will be offering a touch-screen Eee, a dual-core Eee, and another which will retail for around $300. I'm wondering if a tablet-based Eee PC can be far behind.

Dell, Asus and Acer To Release New Sub-laptops

Dell Ultra Portable
Dell have revealed a new 8-inch sub-laptop, thanks to Gizmodo where I came across the story yesterday. Visit the gallery at Via Gizmodo] for more pictures. No idea on what OS the unit is running but it does have 3 USB ports, a card reader, VGA out, Ethernet, it looks really nice.

Asus have also revealed that they are releasing new EeePC based models one of which is the Atom sporting Eee 901 and the other which is a Eee PC 1000 series. The new 10-inch laptop should be announced at Computex in Taiwan next Tuesday.model.
Acer have also launched into the Mini-portables market with their Aspire One. The One will run with Windows XP SP3, A 8.9" screen with a resolution of 1024 X 768. No idea yet on other specs but it looks like this category is warming up...

XP Based Eee PC Due In April

ASUS have announced that their Eee PC will be available from April 9th. The 4GB units will ship with XP Home and sell for around US$400. With 4GB you wont be able to do much but if you want to read just how well the system performs read the review at Laptop Mag.

CEBIT Underway Tomorrow ... Goodies Revealed

The annual CEBIT show is underway in Hanover in Germany and lots of cool products are being unveiled. ASUS unveiled a cool gaming centric desktop which looks somewhat like a Cylon designed and built it. They also announced a 9 inch Eee PC, but frankly I'm underwhelmed by the Eee PC and all it's emulators. I'm looking forward to seeing what else surfaces...

Asus C90 - Upgradable Laptop

Most techies consider laptops to be throw away technology because of the way the devices are built. The idea of being able to upgrade a laptop usually doesn't come into the picture. When you are buying one, you get what you get. Asus are trying to change that situation with their new C90 gaming laptop. Everything from the CPU and graphics card through to its optical drive will be upgradeable. The C90 will also include an HDMI port.

Asus PG221 Display Cool White Monitor.


I've never used an ASUS branded display, but from the looks of this monitor, it's going to be a talking point for many game players and tech nerds... The photo above, is of the PG191, but the PG221 has a wide aspect ratio and features a built-in 1.3-megapixel Webcam, lots of inputs for peripherals, and an awesome Audio configuration which includes; SRS TruSurround XT, a digital sound processing algorithm, the built-in stereo speakers also emulate a 5.1 setup.
