HP Launches New Laptops & Displays

HP launched a few new products at SIGGRAPH today. Firstly a few new laptops in the form of the 17" EliteBook 8730w and 15.4" EliteBook 8530w and 8530p. The 8730 features a 17-inch DreamColor display, a quad-core Intel CPU, 8GB of RAM and NVIDIA's 1GB Quadro FX graphics card. The EliteBook 8530w and 8530p, feature 8GB of RAM, a Core 2 Duo chip (the 8530w supports an optional quad-core chip) and HP's brushed anodized aluminum DuraCase.

HP also announced 22 and 24 inch displays. The 22-inch LP2275w lights up 92 percent of the NTSC color gamut across its 1680 x 1050 pixels, whilst the new 24-inch LP2475w puts 102 percent across its 1920 x 1200 pixels. Both displays feature 1000:1 contrast ratios, extra-bright panels and adjustable stands. The LP2275w will be avaialble immediately, while the LP247w will come next month. Retail pricing will be between $459 and $649 respectively.

Dell Ultrathin Display Concept To Be Released...


Last January, Dell showed a display concept featuring untra thin components in what appeared to be a clear glass shell. Engadget and many of the other tech blogs treated us to images of this cool looking display. This new display will purportedly sport the newly approved DisplayPort 1.1 interface, offering up to 4 times the resolution of current HDTV displays.

LaCie 526, 25.5" LCD Display for Photographers

LaCie's new 25.5-inch LCD monitor is clearly aimed at photographers, video editors, and design pros. It features a 1,920 by 1,200 resolution, a wide gamut range which supports 95 percent of the AdobeRGB color space and 98.5 percent of ISO coated colors, offering consistent color-accurate across displayed, output, and printed colors. The 526 also features a 12-bit Look Up Table and 16-bit processing for smooth color gradients; with an embedded color sensor which monitors and stabilizes the output of the displays backlight over time. The LaCie 526 Monitor has an SRP of $1,999 ($2,299 with the blue eye pro colorimeter) a price, truly aimed at pros.

Asus PG221 Display Cool White Monitor.


I've never used an ASUS branded display, but from the looks of this monitor, it's going to be a talking point for many game players and tech nerds... The photo above, is of the PG191, but the PG221 has a wide aspect ratio and features a built-in 1.3-megapixel Webcam, lots of inputs for peripherals, and an awesome Audio configuration which includes; SRS TruSurround XT, a digital sound processing algorithm, the built-in stereo speakers also emulate a 5.1 setup.

Samsung Unveil Ultra Slim LCD Module

Samsung publicly demoed their new 1.29mm thin Ultra Slim LCD Module, which is primed to be used in their upcoming Ultra Edition II Mobiles. At about 0.4mm thinner than panels currently being produced, these modules will help drive the competition to new heights and thinness. Hmmm ... I wonder how flexible they are?
